Biography

Dr. Shuangxia Niu received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees, from the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, in 2002 and 2005, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 2009. 

Since 2009, she has been with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. She has authored or coauthored over 70 conference papers and more than 50 papers in leading journals. Her research interests include the design and control of novel electrical machines and drives, renewable energy conversion system and applied electromagnetics.

Honours and Awards

She was awarded the Hong Kong Electric Co. Ltd. Electrical Energy Postgraduate Scholarship in 2007.
