Biography

Dr. Shuangxia Niu received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering, from Tianjin University, China in 2002 and 2005, respectively. She received her Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 2009.


From Aug 2009 to Aug 2012, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since Aug 2012, she has been with the  Department of Electrical Engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she is currently an Associate Professor. She is a senior member of IEEE and has authored or coauthored over 90 papers in leading journals. Her research interests include the design and control of novel electrical machines, renewable energy conversion system and applied electromagnetic.

 

Dr. Niu is currently seeking Ph.D. students, research associate as well as post-doctoral researchers to perform research in electric machine, electric vehicles, renewable energy and other related topics. Students with a background in electrical engineering, automation and control are welcomed to contact Dr. Niu for more information.
