Dr. Fu obtained his BEng from Hefei University of Technology in 1982, MEng from Shanghai University of Technology in 1989 and PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1999.

Before he joined PolyU, he was one of the key developers at Ansoft Corporation in USA. He has about seven years of working experience at Ansoft, focusing on the development of commercial software Maxwell, which is a leading commercial software for the computation of electromagnetic fields of electromechanical equipments. During 1982 to 1986, he worked at Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute, where he accumulated valuable experience to deal with electric devices design and manufacturing in practice, and constructed a solid foundation for further academic career development.

Dr. Fu has made many contributions to the theory and application of electromagnetic field computation and electric device design, including the publication of over 80 academic papers in journals and international conferences. He regularly serves as paper reviewer for IEEE Trans. Magnetics, IEEE Trans. Industry Application, and some international conferences.

Dr. Fu's current research interests mainly focus on numerical methods of electromagnetic field computation, optimal design based on numerical model, applied electromagnetics, novel electric motors.
