S.L. Ho obtained both his BSc (first class honours) and PhD
degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Warwick. When he was reading for his PhD degree he also worked
as a part-time project engineer at the Glynwed Central Resources

S.L. Ho is very active in the areas of machine design, phantom
loading of motors, condition monitoring of electrical machines
and traction engineering. During the past decade, he has been
actively involved in many railway projects and, under his
leadership, has set up a PolyU-KCRC Smart Railway Research
Laboratory at the PolyU. Recently, he has been leading a team of
experts from many different Departments of the PolyU in the
development of novel condition monitoring systems for the
electrical industry.
He has undertaken a large number of consultancy projects and is
the recipient of the Most Active Consultant Awards of the PolyU

cracks (in 2006) and voltage transformer failures on the roof
top of a train (in 2007).
