Dr. C.T. Tse received his Higher Diploma, 1st class Diploma and MSc from Hong Kong Polytechnic, Southall College of Technology (UK), and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, respectively.

After returning to Hong Kong in 1980, he worked as Second Engineer in the Power System Analysis Section, System Planning Branch of the China Light and Power Co. Ltd (CLP), promoted to First Engineer in 1985 and Planning Engineer in 1986.

During his 10-years services with CLP he was responsible for identifying, analyzing, and providing solutions for power system planning and operation problems. His main achievement was to design and optimize the first sets of the power system stabilizers in the Hong Kong System, which had overcome oscillation problem in the interconnected systems of South China and Hong Kong.

After obtaining his PhD degree from the University of Hong Kong In 1990, he joined EE Dept of the Hong Kong Polytechnic as Lecturer in 1990, promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1992. He is now the Associate Professor of the Dept.

His main research interest is power system analysis and stability, as well as traction system. He invented the plug-in-modeling technique for small perturbation stability analyses, which was patented with the US Patent Office in 2001.
