The research activities of this group cover specific areas
within control and computing disciplines. Besides conducting
research in these areas, the group also plays an important role
in assisting the other groups regarding computing and contrl
design matters. As such, the members are actively involved with
multidisciplinary projects across the Department.
The core research area of the group is intelligent systems.
Within this context, the control sub-group is mainly concerned
with intelligent process control, intelligent buildings, system
identification, adaptive control. The application areas include
process control, mobine robots and autonomous systems.
The computing sub-group is active in parallel processing,
computer communication and computer networking. The application
areas includes power engineering and autonomous systems.
The group has good research collaboration with other departments
within the University and some universities overseas. Currently,
the team includes five staff members, six MPhil and PhD
candidates and four research personnel.
