Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical Engineering

Introduction

This is a unique programme (programme code: 05005) suitable for engineering degree graduates, regardless of whether they are in full-time employment or not, who look for career advancement by sharpening their knowledge in both advanced technologies and generic management skills. The programme provides the option for students to either take a full-time (taking 9 credits or more in a semester) or part-time study load (taking less than 9 credits per semester).

Study Mode and Duration

Students in full-time employment normally take two standard taught subjects (6 credits) per semester, together with the 9-credit Multidisciplinary Group Project that spans 2 or 3 semesters, and hence should be able to complete the requirements for a Master's degree in 4 semesters (two years) or less.

Those students who are not in full-time employment can complete the programme at a faster pace, which could be as short as 2 semesters (one year). Students have the flexibility to vary their studies from semester to semester according to their personal requirements. For example, a student can take a full-time study load in the current semester and choose to switch to a part-time study load in the next semester, and vice versa.

Programme Structure

The curriculum includes the study of 3 non-technical Broadening Subjects, 4 technical Elective Subjects (with at least 2 subjects at level 5) and a Multidisciplinary Group Project.
