High Voltage Project Laboratory (EF001h)

 
Description:

 

The High Voltage Laboratory is a teaching laboratory used by final-year and project students and some research students.

 

 

Major Equipment:

  • Alternating and direct supplies to 75 and 90kV, respectively

  • A variety of electrode systems

  • Pressure vessel (to 6 bar)

  • Vacuum pump and gas supplies (O2, N2, SF6)

  • Appropriate 100-MHz digital storage oscilloscopes and computers are available to record and analyse fast pre-breakdown events such as corona pulses.

  • A Schering bridge and both ultrasonic and ultra-high-frequency detection and analysis equipment are available for partial discharge detection and analysis.
